PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers must be concerned with their investment in Jason Schmidt.
Schmidt on Tuesday was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.
Signed to a three-year, $47 million contract this winter, Schmidt lasted just two innings in Saturday's start against the Padres. His fastball barely registered 85 miles per hour.
Dodgers trainer Stan Conte described the pain as mild to moderate, but there is no timetable for his return.
In three starts this season, Schmidt is 1-2 with a 7.36 ERA.
