Angels OF Garret Anderson headed to DL

May 5, 2007 - 12:27 AM ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Friday placed outfielder Garret Anderson on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 28, with a tear in his right hip flexor tendon.

Anderson, who has sat out the team's last six games, had an MRI Friday at Orange Imaging that revealed the tear.

The 34-year-old Anderson, who has spent his entire 13-year career with the Angels franchise, is hitting .263 (25-for-95) with one homer and 10 RBI this season. He is a career .296 hitter with 242 homers.

This will mark just the second trip to the disabled list in Anderson's career. He missed six weeks in 2004 with arthritis in his upper back.

Anaheim recalled outfielder Tommy Murphy from Class AAA Salt Lake to take Anderson's spot on the 25-man roster.
