Diamondbacks' LHP Johnson will miss next start

May 24, 2007 - 5:28 AM PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday announced that pitcher Randy Johnson will miss his next start due to tendinitis in his left forearm.

The lefthander was scheduled to pitch Friday against the Houston Astros, but Edgar Gonzalez will likely get the start instead.

Johnson, who began this the season on the disabled list recovering from back surgery, is 2-2 with a 4.54 ERA in six starts this season. The 43-year-old won his last two starts, allowing two runs and striking out 19 in a span of 11 2/3 innings.

In eight appearances this season - five starts - Gonzalez is 1-2 with a 4.81 ERA. The 24-year-old righthander has not started a game since April 28 and hasn't won since his first start of the season on April 5.
