Yankees send closer Robertson to DL
May 15, 2012 - 9:33 PM Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - New York Yankees reliever David Robertson has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain. The injury comes less than two weeks after Robertson was named the Yankees' closer in the wake of Mariano Rivera's ACL tear. Rafael Soriano is now likely to take over ninth inning duties for New York.
Robertson got two quick outs in a non-save situation during Friday's 6-2 win over Seattle after a difficult first save in his new role followed by a blown save.
An All-Star last season, the righty is 0-1 with a 2.51 earned run average over 14 1/3 innings in 2012.
The Yankees replaced Robertson on the roster by recalling pitcher Cody Eppley from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
