Hall leaves game with ankle injury

Jul 6, 2007 - 7:27 AM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Milwaukee Brewers center fielder Bill Hall left Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second inning with a high ankle sprain.

Hall sustained the injury when he landed awkwardly after scaling the center field wall in an attempt to rob Ryan Doumit of a home run.

X-rays were negative, but according to the team's website, Hall was wearing a protective boot on his right foot and walking around on crutches after the game.

"I didn't realize how high I was," Hall told the team's site. "I was prepared to land a little quicker than I was, and once I didn't, the ground kinda snuck up on me.

"Everything was good except for the landing. I got up there, I saw where the ball was, picked a spot with my glove and got pretty close to it, actually."

Right fielder Corey Hart moved to center, Kevin Mench went from left to right and Geoff Jenkins came in to play left. Filling Hall's spot in the lineup, Jenkins went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer.
