Rays place Price on 15-day DL
May 16, 2013 - 7:17 PM St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Rays placed ace David Price on the 15-day disabled list due to a left triceps strain he suffered in Wednesday's 9-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox.Price exited with one out in Boston's eight-run third after giving up back-to- back RBI singles to Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz.
The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner is headed to the DL for the first time in his career.
Price, a 20-game winner last year, has struggled this season. He's 1-4 with a 5.24 ERA over nine starts. The southpaw's already allowed eight homers after surrendering just 16 in 2012.
In addition, Tampa Bay called up left-handed pitcher Alex Torres from Triple-A Durham to take Price's spot on the active roster.
No one has shouted yet.
