Reid Ryan to be named president of Astros

May 17, 2013 - 1:18 AM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Astros are expected to name Reid Ryan, the son of Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan and president and CEO of Ryan-Sanders Baseball, as the next president of the team.

The position became available when George Postolos resigned as the club's president and chief executive officer on Monday.

The Astros have scheduled a Friday afternoon press conference, at which time they'll reportedly name Ryan their new team president.

Ryan runs the Triple-A Round Rock Express (Rangers) and Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks (Astros), both of which are owned by Nolan Ryan and Houston businessman Don Sanders.

His father played 27 years in the majors, including a stint with the Astros from 1980-88, and became Major League Baseball's all-time strikeout leader before being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999. He is currently CEO of the Rangers.

The Astros have the worst record in baseball at 11-30.
