Reid Ryan to be named president of Astros
May 17, 2013 - 1:18 AM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Astros are expected to name Reid Ryan, the son of Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan and president and CEO of Ryan-Sanders Baseball, as the next president of the team.The position became available when George Postolos resigned as the club's president and chief executive officer on Monday.
The Astros have scheduled a Friday afternoon press conference, at which time they'll reportedly name Ryan their new team president.
Ryan runs the Triple-A Round Rock Express (Rangers) and Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks (Astros), both of which are owned by Nolan Ryan and Houston businessman Don Sanders.
His father played 27 years in the majors, including a stint with the Astros from 1980-88, and became Major League Baseball's all-time strikeout leader before being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999. He is currently CEO of the Rangers.
The Astros have the worst record in baseball at 11-30.
