Athletics reinstate OF Young
May 18, 2013 - 8:23 PM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - The Oakland Athletics reinstated outfielder Chris Young from the 15-day disabled list Saturday.Young was placed on the disabled list May 4, retroactively to April 30, due to a strained left quadriceps, which he suffered during a 19-inning marathon game against the Los Angeles Angels on April 29.
The 29-year-old Young is hitting just .172 with four homers and 15 RBI in 23 games this season.
In addition, the Athletics designated first baseman Daric Barton for assignment. Barton was selected from Triple-A Sacramento on May 8 and batted .143 with one home run and three RBI in eight games.
