Cardinals activate P Westbrook
Jun 15, 2013 - 3:07 AM St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Cardinals activated pitcher Jake Westbrook from the 15-day disabled list Friday.Westbrook, who had been sidelined since May 9 due to right elbow inflammation, pitched in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Marlins. He allowed five runs -- three earned -- on eight hits over five frames.
The 35-year-old right-hander is 2-1 with a 2.05 ERA in seven starts this season, including one shutout. He led the majors in ERA after the month of April and earned his 100th career win on May 2 against the Brewers.
In addition, the Cardinals optioned pitcher Michael Wacha to Triple-A Memphis. Wacha went 1-0 with a 4.58 ERA in three starts this season with St. Louis.
