Pirates call up Cumpton for Saturday start
Jun 15, 2013 - 4:33 PM Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have selected the contract of pitcher Brandon Cumpton from Triple-A Indianapolis.Cumpton is scheduled to make his MLB debut Saturday against the Dodgers. The right-hander is filling in for A.J. Burnett, who is on the disabled list with a Grade 1 tear of his right calf.
The 24-year-old Cumpton was 4-4 with a 3.31 ERA over 11 games (10 starts) with Indianapolis this season.
Pittsburgh also designated pitcher Mike Zagurski for assignment. The left- hander had a 15.00 ERA in six relief appearances.
