CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday activated center fielder Bill Hall from the 15-day disabled list.
Hall, who is batting .271 with nine home runs and 38 RBI, was placed on the disabled list on July 6 with a high ankle sprain. Hall sustained the injury when he landed awkwardly after scaling the center field wall in an attempt to deny Ryan Doumit of a home run in a 6-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In a corresponding move, the Brewers optioned outfielder Tony Gwynn to Class AAA Nashville. Gwynn was hitting .274 with nine RBI in 59 games for the Brewers.
