Mets activate OF Alou from DL
Jul 27, 2007 - 11:23 PM FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- The New York Mets on Friday activated outfielder Moises Alou from the 15-day disabled list.The 41-year-old Alou was placed on the 15-Day DL on May 17, retroactive to May 13, with a strained left quadriceps. The 16-year veteran went 1-for-4 with an RBI on Sunday in a rehabilitation game at Class A Brooklyn of the New York-Penn League and developed tendinitis in his shoulder which delayed his return. Alou also hit .333 (5-15) with a homer and three RBI in five rehabilitation games with the Gulf Coast Mets.
In 30 games with the Mets, Alou hit .318 with two homers and 13 RBI.
In other moves, the club recalled righthanded pitcher Jon Adkins from Class AAA New Orleans of the Pacific Coast League and designated catcher Sandy Alomar Jr. for assignment.
Adkins, 29, went 1-3 with four saves and a 3.83 ERA in 38 games with New Orleans this season. During his major league career, Adkins is 4-5 with a 4.63 ERA in 114 games with the White Sox and the San Diego Padres.
After having his contract purchased from New Orleans on July 4, Alomar, Jr. hit .333 (2-6) in just three games with New York.
