Brewers 1B Fielder suspended three games

Aug 15, 2007 - 8:27 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder was suspended three games and fined an undisclosed amount, Major League Baseball announced Wednesday.

Fielder, the National League leader in home runs with 37, was punished for inappropriate and aggressive conduct in arguing balls and strikes with plate umpire Wally Bell in the eighth inning of Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Houston Astros.

Unless appealed, Fielder will begin his suspension in Wednesday's contest against the St. Louis Cardinals. The punishment will be held in abeyance if appealed.

In 118 games this season, Fielder is hitting .288 with 37 homers and 89 RBI.
