Mets place IF Easley on disabled list

Aug 19, 2007 - 6:16 PM WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The New York Mets on Sunday placed infielder Damion Easley on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left ankle.

Easley was injured in Saturday night's game against Washington while running the bases. He was diagnosed with a Grade 3 sprain of the ankle and will undergo an MRI on Monday.

Easley, 37, is batting .280 with 10 homers and 26 RBI in 76 games.

To replace Easley on the roster, the Mets recalled infielder Anderson Hernandez from Class AAA New Orleans of the Pacific Coast League.
