Cishek, deGrom share NL weekly honors
Jul 28, 2014 - 8:11 PM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Miami Marlins reliever Steve Cishek and New York Mets starter Jacob deGrom have been named co-National League Players of the Week for the period ending July 27.In five appearances last week, Cishek converted a major league-best five save opportunities. The 28-year-old right-hander fanned eight in five innings of work and allowed just two hits while tying for the major league lead in pitching appearances.
The rookie deGrom tied for the National League lead in wins and innings pitched last week, going 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA, allowing one run on 13 1/3 innings with 11 strikeouts and three walks over two outings.
