Yankees recall Almonte, DFA Francis

Jul 28, 2014 - 9:16 PM Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Before Monday's game against the Texas Rangers, the New York Yankees recalled outfielder Zoilo Almonte from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and designated pitcher Jeff Francis for assignment.

Almonte has appeared in 10 games for the Yankees this season, going 4-for-25 with one homer.

The Yankees had acquired Francis from the Oakland Athletics earlier this month. The left-hander went 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA in two relief appearances for New York.
