Cards place Ellis on DL
Aug 19, 2014 - 9:00 PM St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Cardinals placed infielder Mark Ellis on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday with a left oblique strain.The move is retroactive to Aug. 15.
The 37-year-old veteran is batting just .192 with 12 runs batted in 65 games with the Cardinals this season.
In a corresponding move, the Cardinals recalled infielder Greg Garcia from Triple-A Memphis.
Garcia has hit .200 with one double and an RBI in seven games with St. Louis this year.
