A's acquire C Soto from Rangers
Aug 24, 2014 - 8:53 PM Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics acquired catcher Geovany Soto from the Texas Rangers on Sunday for cash considerations.Soto, 31, has played just 10 games this season because of knee and groin injuries.
The 2008 National League Rookie of the Year with Chicago, Soto has batted .248 with 92 home runs and 314 RBI over 666 career games with the Cubs and Rangers.
To make room for Soto on the 40-man roster, the A's transferred first baseman Kyle Blanks to the 60-day DL.
Oakland also added minor league catcher Bryan Anderson in a trade with Cincinnati. The Reds received international money in return.
