Closer Hawkins returning to Rockies for 2015
Oct 31, 2014 - 10:02 PM Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - LaTroy Hawkins will be back for a 21st major league season after the Colorado Rockies exercised the veteran closer's 2015 contract option on Friday.Hawkins, whose 23 saves last season were his most since 2004, will earn $2.25 million in the coming campaign.
One of only 16 hurlers in MLB history to make 1,000 career appearances, Hawkins went 4-3 with a 3.31 earned run average over 57 games with the Rockies in 2014.
The right-hander, who will turn 42 in December, signed a one-year deal with Colorado last November that included the option.
Colorado also announced it has outrighted outfielder/first baseman Matt McBride to Triple-A Colorado Springs and off the 40-man roster.
No one has shouted yet.
