Marlins exercise club option on Mathis
Nov 2, 2014 - 1:19 AM Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Marlins have exercised their 2015 contract option on catcher Jeff Mathis.Mathis, who is due to make $1.5 million next year, batted .200 with two homers and 12 RBI in 64 contests this past season. He played primarily as a backup to Jarrod Saltalamacchia.
In 10 major league seasons, Mathis is hitting .196 with 41 homers and 207 RBI.
