Cards sign INF Anna
Nov 11, 2014 - 9:06 PM St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Cardinals signed free agent infielder Dean Anna to a major league contract and three other players to minor league deals on Tuesday.Anna participated in 12 games for the New York Yankees last season, batting .136 (3-for-22) with one home run and three RBI. He was claimed off waivers by the Pirates on July 5, but did not make an appearance in the major leagues for the remainder of the year.
The Cards also agreed to terms with pitchers Marcus Hatley and Miguel Socolovich and infielder Scott Moore to minor league contracts.
Socolovich did not record a decision while posting a 6.06 ERA in 12 appearances with the Orioles and Cubs in 2012.
Moore is a lifetime .242 hitter who has collected 16 home runs and 53 RBI over 152 games with the Cubs, Astros and Orioles from 2006-12.
