Royals ship Crow to Miami
Nov 28, 2014 - 5:54 PM Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Kansas City Royals have traded reliever Aaron Crow to the Miami Marlins for a pair of minor league pitchers. The move comes on the heels of the Royals re-signing right-handed reliever Jason Frasor to a one-year deal.
Crow was lost in the shuffle of Kansas City's tremendous bullpen a year ago, but still appeared in 67 games and went 6-1 with a 4.12 ERA, while seeing a noticeable dip in his velocity. The 28-year-old righty struck out 34 batters in 59 innings last season and has seen his strikeout total go down in each of the last three years.
A first-round draft pick by the Royals in 2009, Crow earned a spot on the AL All-Star team in 2011 and is 20-11 in 254 appearances with a 3.43 ERA.
Kansas City acquired lefty Brian Flynn and righty Reid Redman in the deal.
Flynn, acquired by Miami in the deal that sent Anibal Sanchez to Detroit, has given up 24 runs in 25 innings at the big league level. He also pitched to a 4.06 ERA in 25 starts for Triple-A New Orleans a year ago.
Redman, meanwhile, has yet to reach the majors and split last year between Single-A Jupiter and Double-A Jacksonville, going a combined 5-1 with a 2.04 ERA.
No one has shouted yet.
