Orioles tender all 11 arbitration-eligible players

Dec 3, 2014 - 12:07 AM Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - The defending AL East champion Baltimore Orioles decided to tender contracts to all 11 of their arbitration- eligible players on Tuesday.

Catcher Matt Wieters, infielders Chris Davis, Ryan Flaherty and Steve Pearce, outfielder Alejandro De Aza and pitchers Miguel Gonzalez, Tommy Hunter, Bud Norris, Chris Tillman, Zach Britton and Brian Matusz were all offered the chance to return and defend their division title.

Wieters was limited to 26 games last year before Tommy John surgery was required in June to repair a damaged right elbow.

Davis followed up a franchise-record 53-homer, 138-RBI season in 2013 by struggling to a .196 average, 26 home runs and 72 RBI over 127 games.

Pearce proved to be a useful utilityman, accumulating 21 homers, 26 doubles and 49 runs batted in while hitting .293 in 102 appearances.

Gonzalez turned in a 10-9 record and 3.23 earned-run average over 27 games (26 starts) last season, while Norris finished second on the club in victories (15) and Tillman ranked third (13).

Britton racked up a staff-low 1.65 ERA and 37 saves with a 3-2 record in 76 1/3 innings over 71 games.
