Reports: Giants sign OF Aoki
Jan 16, 2015 - 11:32 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Francisco Giants have filled a need with the signing of outfielder Nori Aoki to a one-year deal on Friday, according to multiple reports.The contract is reportedly worth a base of $4 million and also includes a club option worth $5.5 million for 2016.
Aoki, 33, hit .285 with 43 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 132 games for the AL- champion Kansas City Royals last season. He struggled in the World Series against the Giants, however, going 1-for-14 (.071) in the seven-game set.
Aoki will return to the National League, where he spent his first two MLB seasons in Milwaukee. For his career, the Japanese native has hit .287 with a .353 on-base percentage, while striking out just 144 times in over 1,800 plate appearances.
