Phillies sign P Billingsley
Jan 30, 2015 - 12:27 AM Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Phillies signed right-handed pitcher Chad Billingsley to a one-year, $1.5 million contract on Thursday. The 30-year-old Billingsley did not pitch in 2014 while he was recovering from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow and surgery on his right flexor tendon. He last pitched in 2013 when he made two starts for Los Angeles.
Billingsley has pitched eight seasons in the majors, all with the Dodgers. He owns an 81-61 record and a 3.65 ERA in 1,175 1/3 innings with 1,037 strikeouts. In 2009, he was named to his only career All-Star game.
To make room for Billingsley on the 40-man roster, the Phillies designated left-handed pitcher Cesar Jimenez for assignment.
