Orioles, Pearce agree on 1-year deal
Jan 30, 2015 - 11:26 PM Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - The Baltimore Orioles agreed to terms on a one-year deal with unexpected slugger Steve Pearce, the team announced Friday.The deal leaves the Orioles with three remaining arbitration-eligible players: pitchers Zach Britton and Miguel Gonzalez and outfielder Alejandro De Aza.
Pearce, 31, belted a career-high 21 home runs and batted .293 while playing in a career-high 102 games for Baltimore last season, mostly in the outfield or at first base.
The eight-year veteran had never hit more than four homers in a season before 2014.
He is a career .255 hitter with a .335 on-base percentage, 38 homers and 140 RBI in 392 games for the Pirates, Astros, Yankees and Orioles.
