Reds OF Dunn has season-ending knee surgery

Sep 26, 2007 - 2:25 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Cincinnati Reds left fielder Adam Dunn on Wednesday underwent season-ending arthroscopic surgery to clean out his right knee and repair a torn meniscus.

The one-hour procedure was performed by Reds medical director Dr. Timothy Kremchek. Dunn is expected to recover fully in four to six weeks.

Dunn, who batted .264 with 40 homers and 106 RBI in 152 games this season, left Sunday's game with the San Francisco Giants in the sixth inning.

It could be the end of the line in Cincinnati for Dunn, the only player in franchise history to belt 40 homers in four consecutive seasons. The Reds hold a $13 million option for the 2008 season with a $500,000 buyout.
