A-Rod homers in Yanks' spring training loss

Mar 11, 2015 - 8:56 PM Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Rodriguez hit his first home run since returning from a year-long suspension during the New York Yankees' 10-4 spring-training loss to the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday.

Rodriguez belted a 3-1 pitch from Brandon Workman over the left-center field wall to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning, part of a 1-for-2 day at the plate for the controversial three-time American League MVP.

The 39-year-old superstar is now hitting .455 (5-for-11) with a pair of walks in five games this spring. Rodriguez was forced to sit out the entire 2014 season after being suspended by Major League Baseball for his role in the Biogenesis PED scandal.

Rodriguez, who is expected to serve primarily as a designated hitter this season, also saw action at third base for the second time since his reinstatement.
