Mets OF Anderson loses appeal, starts suspension

Sep 27, 2007 - 11:32 PM FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- New York Mets outfielder Marlon Anderson on Thursday will begin serving a two-game suspension imposed for his actions during a September 15 game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Anderson was ejected for arguing a called third strike and throwing his helmet.

He appealed the suspension, but was denied by Major League Baseball at a hearing on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old is batting .298 with three homers and 27 RBI in 64 games with New York and the Los Angeles Dodgers this season.
