White Sox OF Eaton gets 5-year deal
Mar 21, 2015 - 12:07 AM Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago White have come to terms on a five-year, $23.5-million contract with outfielder Adam Eaton. The deal includes club options for 2020 and 2021.The 26-year-old Eaton hit .300 with one home run and 35 RBI in 2014, his first season with the White Sox. He also tied for the American League lead in triples with 10 and had 15 stolen bases and 76 runs scored.
Eaton, who played in 123 games last season, was acquired by the White Sox as part of a 3-team trade on Dec. 10, 2013. He spent his first two major league seasons with Arizona.
"Adam serves as a catalyst, brings a spark of energy to the ballpark each and every day and helps ignite our offense," said Rick Hahn, White Sox senior vice president/general manager. "He provided everything we look for in a leadoff hitter, a center fielder and a competitor after joining us last season. We expect him to be an important part of this team's success moving forward and are very pleased we were able to reach this agreement to keep him in a White Sox uniform for potentially the next seven seasons."
Under terms of the contract, Eaton will make $850,000 in 2015, $2.75 million in 2016, $4 million in 2017, $6 million in 2018 and $8.4 million in 2019.
