Mets' Wheeler has successful Tommy John surgery
Mar 26, 2015 - 2:17 AM Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - New York Mets pitcher Zack Wheeler underwent successful surgery to repair the flexor pronator tendon and reconstruct the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, the team announced Wednesday.It's expected to take about 14 months for the 24-year-old to be ready to pitch.
Wheeler was set to begin his third season in the Mets' rotation. He was 11-11 with a 3.54 ERA in 32 starts last year after posting a mark of 7-5 with a 3.42 ERA in 17 starts in 2013.
