Giants re-sign RHP Walker
Nov 17, 2007 - 8:25 AM SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- The San Francisco Giants on Friday re-signed Tyler Walker to a one-year contract after first declining their 2008 option on the righthander. No financial terms were disclosed.
The 30-year-old Walker returned from 2006 "Tommy John" elbow surgery on his right elbow to go 2-0 with a 1.26 ERA in 15 relief appearances for San Francisco.
"Our bullpen is obviously an area that needs attention, and bringing Tyler back is a big boost to our efforts," Giants general manager Brian Sabean said. "We all saw at the end of 2007 that he has returned to form, and we are confident in his ability to pitch in the late innings come 2008."
A five-year veteran, Walker is 15-9 all-time with 34 saves and a 4.51 ERA in 165 career games with the New York Mets, Giants and Tampa Bay Rays.
