3 minor leaguers suspended for drug violations
Jan 28, 2016 - 9:05 PM NEW YORK (AP) San Francisco pitcher Dylan Brooks has been suspended for 50 games following an unspecified violation of baseball's minor league drug program.Free agent infielder Joshua Tyler Palmer was suspended for 100 games for refusing to take a drug test, the commissioner's office said Thursday.
Free agent infielder Luis Mateo was suspended for 50 games for a positive test for a banned Amphetamine.
A 30th-round draft pick in 2013, the 20-year-old Brooks was 1-2 with a 2.25 ERA last year in three starts and 14 relief appearances for the Arizona League Giants.
Palmer was released by the New York Yankees last summer, and Mateo was let go by Atlanta this month. The suspensions of Palmer and Mateo will start when they sign with big league organizations.
There have been 11 suspensions this year under the minor league program.
