Cardinals re-sign IF Miles
Jan 4, 2008 - 6:10 PM ST. LOUIS (Ticker) - The St. Louis Cardinals on Friday re-signed infielder Aaron Miles, handing the versatile switch-hitter a one-year contract.Miles, 31, played 133 games for the Cardinals in 2007, manning five different positions including two appearances as a pitcher.
"Aaron has shown a great deal of versatility with our club over the past two years," said Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak.
"He has proven to be a quality player both as a starter and off the bench and the value of a player like Aaron who can play several positions and hit from both sides can not be understated."
Miles hit .290 with two home runs and 32 RBI in 2007. His pitching appearances, in which he twice came out of he bullpen to pitch a single inning, saw him give up two runs to register an ERA of 9.00 with no record.
