Dusty Baker reportedly agrees to three-year deal with Reds

Jan 9, 2008 - 5:19 PM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday avoided arbitration with Brian Shouse, signing the veteran lefthander to a one-year contract.

Shouse, 39, made a career-high 73 appearances out of the bullpen for the Brewers last season, posting a 1-1 record with a 3.02 ERA and one save.

Shouse has made 353 appearances - all in relief - in eight seasons with Pittsburgh, Boston, Kansas City, Texas and Brewers.

Wednesday's move leaves Milwaukee with four players still eligible for arbitration - shortstop J.J. Hardy, lefthander Chris Capuano and righthanders Dave Bush and Claudio Vargas.
