Cards P Johnson out at least one week
Mar 4, 2008 - 4:46 PM JUPITER, Florida (Ticker) -- St. Louis Cardinals reliever Tyler Johnson has a strained left rotator cuff and will be sidelined at least one week.Johnson also was diagnosed with shoulder tendinitis Tuesday after undergoing an MRI the previous day.
The lefthanded Johnson expressed some relief that the injury is not season-threatening.
"I don't have to have surgery," Johnson told the team's web site. "Any time you don't have to have surgery, it's great news.
"I wasn't sure if it was that bad, anyway. I was just feeling tired and a little weak. But I know now that there's nothing wrong, and I can go out there and do what I have to do."
Johnson, 26, appeared in 55 games for the Cardinals last season, going 1-1 with a 4.03 ERA.
No one has shouted yet.
