Weeks' run sets franchise record
Apr 4, 2008 - 6:49 PM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks on Friday set a franchise record with a run scored in 17 consecutive games. After leading off the first inning of Friday's contest against the San Francisco Giants with a single to shallow left field, Weeks was driven in by Prince Fielder's base hit. Weeks' streak dates to last season.
Weeks' new mark eclipsed Paul Molitor's streak of 16 straight games in 1987.
The string also matched the National League modern-day record, tying Rogers Hornsby (St. Louis Cardinals, 1921) and Ted Kluszewski (Cincinnati Reds, 1954).
The major league record is 18, held by Red Rolfe (New York Yankees, 1939) and Kenny Lofton (Cleveland Indians, 2000).
