Guillen's suspension delayed again

Apr 9, 2008 - 8:29 PM KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- The Kansas City Royals still do not know when right fielder Jose Guillen's 15-day suspension will begin.

The Royals were informed by the commissioner's office on Wednesday that the stay of Guillen's suspension has been extended through Tuesday.

Guillen was suspended on March 30 for violating Major League Baseball's drug policy. But the suspension was put on hold for 10 days while the owners and players negotiated a tougher drug agreement.

The 10-day period expired Tuesday, when the Royals hosted the New York Yankees in their home opener.

"The fact that they're lengthening it obviously is a good sign," Moore told the team's web site. "I don't think they'd lengthen it if they didn't feel like ultimately there was going to be some resolve."

Guillen has played in the Royals' first seven games this season, but is batting just .138 (4-for-29) with no home runs and three RBI.
