ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim ace John Lackey will begin a rehab assignment with Class A Rancho Cucamonga, the team announced Tuesday.

Lackey, who has been on the disabled list since the start of the season with a strained right triceps, is tentatively scheduled to pitch on Thursday.

The righthander was scheduled to miss three to four weeks after an MRI on March 15.

Lackey was an All-Star for the first time in his career last season, when he went 19-9 with a 3.01 ERA - the lowest mark in the American League.
