RANCHO CUCAMONGA, California (Ticker) - Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitcher John Lackey returned to the mound Thursday, tossing two innings during a rehabilitation assignment with Class A Rancho Cucamonga.

On the disabled list since the start of the season due to a strained right triceps, Lackey allowed a solo homer among three hits. The righthander, who went 19-9 with a 3.01 ERA a year ago, also struck out five and did not walk a batter.

"I thought my stuff was fine, but still not ready to go back (to the major leagues)," Lackey told the Los Angeles Times following the 40-pitch outing.

Lackey added that he was able to throw his entire array of pitches and was encouraged that his arm felt fine while throwing changeups, a pitch he previously struggled with due to the injury.

The 29-year-old is expected to remain with Rancho Cucamonga through May 4, during which time he will make two more starts.
