Mets' Alou likely to come off DL Friday
Apr 29, 2008 - 10:00 PM FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) - New York Mets left fielder Moises Alou likely will be activated from the disabled list on Friday. An MRI exam revealed that Alou does not have a fracture of the left ankle, the team announced Tuesday.
Alou, who has been on the disabled list since the start of the season following hernia surgery, was scratched from a Class A start on Friday because of swelling and pain in his ankle. He returned to New York to undergo an MRI exam.
"It's going to be day-to-day. It's not a fracture," general manager Omar Minaya said. "He'll be working out with our club. He'll stay here with the club."
Minaya said that catcher Brian Schneider, who has been treated for a thumb infection, is expected to be released from a New York hospital on Wednesday.
