Mets activate LF Alou from DL

May 3, 2008 - 2:22 AM PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The New York Mets activated left fielder Moises Alou from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Alou, who missed the first 26 games of the season while recovering from hernia surgery, is batting fifth.

The oft-injured Alou was scratched from a rehab start on April 25 due to a sore ankle but had an MRI on Wednesday, which came back negative.

Alou, 41, hit .341 with 13 home runs and 49 RBI in 87 games last season.

In a corresponding move, the Mets optioned catcher Gustavo Molina to Class AAA New Orleans of the Pacific Coast League.
