Orioles activate IF-OF Bynum from DL
May 8, 2008 - 10:28 PM BALTIMORE (Ticker) -- The Baltimore Orioles on Thursday activated infielder-outfielder Freddie Bynum from the 15-day disabled list.Bynum, 28, who had been on a rehabilitation assignment with Class AA Bowie, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee after suffering a torn MCL during spring training.
The four-year veteran, who batted .260 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 70 games for Baltimore last season, has a career average of .259 with six homers and 24 RBI with the Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs and Orioles.
In a corresponding move, Baltimore optioned infielder Eider Torres to Class AAA Norfolk. He appeared in eight games with the Orioles, going 2-for-9 (.222) and scoring a pair of runs.
