Griffey, Phillips out vs. Mets
May 9, 2008 - 10:52 PM FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- Cincinnati Reds right fielder Ken Griffey Jr. and second baseman Brandon Phillips are not in the lineup for Friday's game against the New York Mets.Griffey, who has 597 career home runs, was scratched from the lineup after he felt ill prior to the game. The slugger is batting .244 with four homers and 15 RBI this season for the Reds.
Phillips was omitted from the lineup due to a bruised left calf.
The 26-year-old homered in a 9-0 win over Chicago on Wednesday but suffered the injury when he fouled a ball off his leg. Phillips is eligible to pinch hit.
Phillips is hitting .276 (37-for-134) with six home runs and 16 RBI.
