Dodgers P Schmidt to make rehab start
May 11, 2008 - 6:31 PM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Jason Schmidt will make a minor-league rehab start, the team announced Sunday.Schmidt has not pitched since undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery last June. The righthander is scheduled to throw one inning for Class A Inland Empire in a California League contest against Lancaster.
A three-time All-Star, Schmidt was a disaster with the Dodgers last season - his first in Los Angeles. After signing a three-year, $47 million contract in December 2006, Schmidt went 1-4 with a 6.31 ERA in just six starts.
Schmidt, 35, owns a 128-94 record and a 3.94 ERA in parts of 13 seasons with the Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates and Atlanta Braves.
