Dodgers P Schmidt makes rehab start
May 12, 2008 - 12:09 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Jason Schmidt made a minor league rehab start Sunday, tossing a perfect frame for Class A Inland Empire.Schmidt needed just 12 pitches to induce a flyout and two groundouts against Lancaster. He had not pitched since undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery last June.
A three-time All-Star, the righthander was a disaster with the Dodgers last season - his first in Los Angeles. After signing a three-year, $47 million contract in December 2006, Schmidt went 1-4 with a 6.31 ERA in just six starts.
Schmidt, 35, owns a 128-94 record and a 3.94 ERA in parts of 13 seasons with the Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates and Atlanta Braves.
