CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Cubs placed righthander Chad Fox on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with ulnar neuritis in his right elbow.
Fox, 37, whose contract was purchased earlier this month from Class AA Tennessee, was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in three appearances for Chicago this season.
Fox returned to the majors following a three-year absence, signing a minor league contract with the Cubs on January 11.
In a corresponding move, Chicago recalled righthander Jose Ascanio from Class AAA Iowa. Ascanio, 23, is 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA in 17 relief appearances for Iowa this season.
