Angels activate 3B Figgins

May 21, 2008 - 9:12 PM TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have their catalyst and leadoff hitter back in the lineup.

The Angels activated third baseman Chone Figgins from the 15-day disabled list prior to Wednesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Sidelined since May 4 with a strained right hamstring, Figgins was activated after going through a full workout on Wednesday.

Figgins is second in the American League in on-base percentage at .421, having reached base in 30 of his 32 starts. The Angels are 19-13 when Figgins leads off and 7-7 when he doesn't.

To make room for him on the roster, the Angels placed shortstop Erick Aybar on the DL, ending his string of 39 consecutive starts.

Aybar dislocated his right pinkie finger while diving for a ball in the first inning of Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Angels.
