Mets' Anderson suffers hamstring injury

May 24, 2008 - 4:01 PM DENVER (Ticker) -- With the team mired in a five-game losing streak and manager Willie Randolph's job possibly in jeopardy, the New York Mets received more bad news Friday.

Left fielder Marlon Anderson suffered a strained left hamstring while running out a groundball in the fourth inning of the Mets' 6-5, 13-inning loss to the Rockies and had to be helped off the field.

New York already is shorthanded in the outfield as Moises Alou was placed on the disabled list Thursday with a strained left calf and Ryan Church is still recovering from the concussion he suffered in a collision in Atlanta on Tuesday.

Church has been experiencing dizziness, although he did make a pinch-hitting appearance in the 12th inning.

Anderson was replaced in left field by infielder Fernando Tatis, who played in the outfield for the first time since October 1, 2006.
