Mets place Anderson on 15-day DL

May 24, 2008 - 7:28 PM DENVER (Ticker) -- With the team mired in a five-game losing streak and manager Willie Randolph's job possibly in jeopardy, the New York Mets received more bad news Saturday.

Left fielder Marlon Anderson was placed on the 15-day disabled list after straining his left hamstring in Friday's 6-5, 13-inning loss to the Colorado Rockies.

Anderson suffered the injured while running out a groundball in the fourth inning and had to be helped off the field.

To take Anderson's roster spot, the Mets recalled infielder Nick Evans from Class AA Binghamtom from the Eastern League.

Anderson's injury leaves New York even more shorthanded in the outfield as Moises Alou was placed on the disabled list Thursday with a strained left calf and Ryan Church is still recovering from the concussion he suffered in a collision in Atlanta on Tuesday.

Church has been experiencing dizziness, although he did make a pinch-hitting appearance in the 12th inning.
